Great Maya Reef

Riviera Maya boasts the second largest barrier reef in the world, known as the Great Maya Reef. The reef stretches 186 miles along the Mexican Coastline with a total of almost 300 miles which skirt the coasts of Belize, Guatemala and Honduras.
There are more than 70 named dive sites to choose from along the Mayan Riviera Maya cost, from Punta Maroma to Tulum
This fascinating coral reef, also known as the Mesoamerican reef is home to multiple types of amazing corals, magnificent sea turtles and over 500 species of fish and other sea life.
The part of the reef that stretches along the Mexican coastline is extremely deep with some marked dive sites reaching more then 30 meters or just under 100 feet. For the adventure divers, there are even deeper sights that can be explored, but these sites require more training and experience.
The majority of these marked dive sites are only a short boat ride away from popular towns such as Cancun, Puerto Morelos, Playa del Carmen, Puerto Aventuras, Akumal and Tulum
